Invite Inspiration Board Of This Second

I’m constantly changing my mood/theme/style/aesthetic of design…”i wanna do this, no i wanna look like this, no what if i do this” which is  good and bad thing i’d say. Good because it shows me what i CAN do, bad because it takes me a while to complete a freelance idea (or longer than i’d like). Todays scattered faves are the following for obvious reasons.   Continue reading Invite Inspiration Board Of This Second

Getting better design feedback:

As a designer, i’ve grown to have a love hate relationship with design feedback. I love it because it helps me continue to grow, to change, and see my work in different lights that i may not have seen previously while i was stuck in my work bubble. Its great to have friends that are also in the design world because they, while being nice, tell me what sucks and what is awesome. I know that when i asked a few of my girl design friends they’re going to tell me “ummm what if you…” which is there way of … Continue reading Getting better design feedback:

Home Is.

For Art203 we were to create a slideshow using photos and text. I chose to place the text directly on the images, and instead of telling a created story line (because im not that creative) i decided to create kind of a feeling of what home is to ME. We could only use at max 15 images, otherwise this baby would have been full of stuff. Maybe i’ll redo it, part two? ha! Continue reading Home Is.

Project Patagonia on Behance…

I have this obsession with clean design work and simple typography. its too bad that my design is never this simple because i can’t stop adding stuff…   “Conservacion Patagonica is a conservation group whose mission is “protecting and restoring wildland ecosystems, biodiversity, and healthy communities in Patagonia through the formation of new national parks. Presently, Chilean Patagonia is under attack by an international energy company that plans to build five massive hydroelectric dams on the Pasqua and Baker rivers. The dams would drown large amounts of wild land, industrialize a pastoral region with growing potential for ecotourism and require … Continue reading Project Patagonia on Behance…

Insanity.

I call myself detail oriented, but this artist takes that phrase to a whole new level. Tony Bamber, a graphic artist out of Chicago IL has a Mandala series, and they are some of the coolest images i have ever seen. From the color, to the shapes, to the cropped sections, i cannot get enough of them. I can image them printed and hung on my wall. Absolutely lovely. Check out his Behance site, here.                  Continue reading Insanity.

Save the Dates:

Recently i worked with Jenna and Brian on their “Save the Dates” for their wedding this summer. Their color pallet is light pink and charcoal and they wanted a postcard style (4×6) to mail out to cut down on costs. Here are a handful i gave Jenna to choose from, and the last is the one she picked (front and back)! Thanks Jenna & Brian, and Congrats! Contact me further if you’re interested in your own save the date or wedding invite package! torflip@gmail.com :) Continue reading Save the Dates:

Delayed update post:

So! For this project we’re to create an image out of words, essentially. We have to use Illustrator along side of InDesign, Illustrator for the illustrations, naturally, and ID for the character styles. I chose to really illustrate my image by hand, so each section was drawn out with the pen tool (something i struggle with but forced myself to use for this entire project) and after that copying the defined shapes to add text. I kept the background a color for each body of text, because i liked the way it looked and i think it adds more to … Continue reading Delayed update post:

“Oh, you animal!”… i’m funny guys, i swear.

I’m clever, i know, trust me. This assignment in 450 was, using InDesign, create a 2 column 8.5x11in document with, i believe, 2 images, header, subheader, pull quote, and body text. I went with a “fashion” theme, being animal print. I pulled the body copy from a magazine, but the snippits of text i wrote myself, because again, i am clever. Don’t you forget it. I went with something girly, because usually my work is feminine but not THIS feminine. It was a quick project (2 days) but fun. I’m not super familiar with ID, i use it … Continue reading “Oh, you animal!”… i’m funny guys, i swear.
